The oldest boy has only just turned 16. Here he is at 14. Since this time he has become giant: towering above the females in the family, speaking in a deep voice that none of us recognize. In two years he will be gone, and we can expect not to see him for months or years at a time. Perhaps he will climb mountains and run marathons and find the goddamn cure for cancer.
